- Have the inexhaustible will to accomplish something which inspires, impresses and deeply affects people -
This was and still is the intention of the band Cryptex whose members came together to make the first creative and organizational steps for their mammoth project “Good morning, how did you live?” This album was produced with great devotion, lots of attention to detail and a fair amount of smiling madness. Songs in which romantics, dreamers, hopeless melancholics, party people, lovers, angry or dolorous people, outsiders, rebels, but also unspectacular “nine to five jobbers” get carried away and travel through realms which we call progressive folk rock. The song structures convince by great hook lines, anthem-like choruses, a high stylistic band width, exciting and memorable moments which have a high potential of becoming catchy tunes.
The arrangements, lyrics and the instrumentation established an inventively bounding symbiosis with the different genres, whereby from our point of view a generation overlapping musical artwork was created. From ragtime, blues, gospel, prog-art, brute and furious compositions up to ballad-like, pop and modern songs, “Good morning, how did you live?” offers everything a music fan loves. Producing an album is nothing special for a young band in the present time, but the real art form of an album musician to look after and support the creativity as his own child, is threatened with extinction. This debut album of the band Cryptex, however, follows this creeds.
Innovative, honest and handmade music just undergoes, thank god, some kind of renaissance. Bands as Mumford and Sons, Kaiser Chiefs, Arcade Fire, Coldplay, The Raconteurs, Wolfmother etc. are finally sovereign representatives in the charts again and are greatly enriching the market with concrete music. And exactly in this segment we can see Cryptex with ”Good morning, how did you live?” as a 100% fitting complement.
